The Library Lonnie Program has been fulfilling a Volumes of Pleasure Bookshop goal — to provide new library books to Title I Elementary Schools – those schools with a high population of students who qualify for free school lunches.

Currently, bookstore staff is donating books to schools in the San Luis Coastal Unified School District.

Since January 2021, the Library Lonnie Program donated thirty-six books. In April, 2021, an initial grant from Do Good Grants allowed us to buy and donate an additional 150 books.

Do Good Grants will continue funding to allow additional Title I Schools to receive donations to purchase books. This new program will be known as “Windows and Mirrors.”

These donations and grants are specifically for the purchase of books that encourage kindness, collaboration, inclusion, and embrace diversity.
